1) Дополнение обычно обозначает то лицо или предмет, который подвергается действию. В пассивной конструкции дополнение становится подлежащим (см. Passive).2) В обычном утвердительном предложении дополнение стоит после сказуемого.3)а) Дополнение обычно выражается существительным ( Noun), местоимением или именной группой (например, существительным и определяющим его прилагательным). Личное местоимение, выполняющее функцию дополнения, употребляется в объектной форме (см. Personal pronouns).Shella has lost a blue scarf. — Шелла потеряла голубой шарф.
б) Дополнение может быть выражено придаточным предложением (такое придаточное называется именным, см. Nominal clause):I don't suppose anyone is there at the moment. — Я не думаю, что там сейчас кто-то есть.
Joe prefers staying home on weekend. — Джо предпочитает оставаться дома в выходные дни.
в) Дополнение может быть выражено сложной конструкцией, состоящей из имени и нефинитного оборота; такая конструкция называется сложным дополнением: см. Complex object.I heard them mentioning my name. — Я слышал, что они упоминали мое имя.
4) Дополнения бывают двух типов:а) прямое (см. Direct object).б) непрямое (см. Indirect object).
